A River & Sound Review:
A
public reading series (and more) for the
Puyallup Community
Started in
February 2006 by Puyallup teacher and
writer Jay Bates,
A River & Sound
Review is a
one-of-a-kind, live literary arts
entertainment program intended to
feature the work of writers and
musicians from Puyallup and and the
Puget Sound region. Also designed
for the allowance for audience
interaction -- via its two "literary
game shows,"
Name That Book and
Head to Head
Shakespeare Trivia Challenge
-- A River & Sound Review
succeeds in its efforts to make the
literary arts accessible to the public.
Currently,
A River &
Sound Review is produced
live three times a year (in November,
February, and May) with the hope that
additional programs will be added soon.
Future and current plans for the program also
include: online podcasts of the live
shows; bi-monthly studio podcasts
featuring interviews and readings by
writers from the Puget Sound region; an
annual Young Writers Conference for
students aged 16 to 22; and, a print
journal of the best available fiction,
non-fiction, and poetry.
A River & Sound
Review depends on the
financial gifts of benefactors. We
can only continue as a public service
with your financial support. To

A River &
Sound Review is a member
organization of
Valley Arts United, a non-profit
arts organization in Puyallup. We
are additionally thankful for the
support that has been offered by the
Puyallup Public Library.
Our Mission:
To showcase and support the talents of
literary artists from the Puget Sound
region and enrich the readers of the
Puyallup community with a diversity of
established, emerging, and student
voices.
